I start each morning with…
*A cup of warm water and lemon juice, I first started doing this for its alkalizing properties and soon noticed an improvement in my digestion and immunity.
*If I have time I then whip up some scrambled eggs cooked in virgin coconut oil with half an avocado, or for busier mornings I opt for some of our Detox Kitchen muesli with almond milk; it’s dairy, wheat and refined sugar free – and totally delicious!
The green products I cannot live without in in my make up bag are…
*Pai Chamomile and rose hip calming day cream and Pai Rosehip Bioregenerate oil (paiskincare.com). It’s nice knowing that I am using products which are both gentle on my skin and the environment.
My secret green beauty trick is…
*Well for me, I found that giving up dairy hugely improved my skin.
*I also make sure I drink plenty of water and squeeze in at least 1 green juice a day; this keeps my nutrient level up.
*I try to eat plenty of omega-3, like wild salmon and walnuts; this gives my skin a natural glow.
My positive mantras are…
*Everything will work out in the end – I have to say it a lot as sometimes, sometimes I get so busy that everything can seem overwhelming or impossible but you have to just reassure yourself that somehow things will work out. Just be happy with who you are and spend lots of time loving the people that are close to you.
Books on my reading list which inspire me are…
*Anything by Joanne Harris. I also love a good thriller, my favourite is Gone Girl and I have just started A.S.A Harrisons new book, The Silent Wife.
*When it comes to cookbooks I love Ottolenghi – I find his take on plant-based foods and flavour totally inspiring (ottolenghi.co.uk). Another one of my favourites is The Herb & Flower Cookbook by Pip McCormac (pipmccormac.com) the recipes not only taste delicious but look totally beautiful.
My favourite healthy snacks are…
*I try to not deny myself anything, I just keep to wheat, dairy and refined sugar free options to keep my body feeling and looking good.
*When it comes to snacks I love our avocado and crudité dips – simply peel one ripe avocado and slice into chunks, add a splash of lemon juice, finely chopped spring onions and chopped cucumber. Then, using a fork toss the mixture- slightly squeezing down to bruise the avocado. Add pumpkin seeds, chili flakes, seasoning and a small dollop of Coyo. Finally dip carrot batons into the dip and enjoy!
My weekly exercise routine consists of…
*I’m a new mum so I have little time to devote to my beloved yoga at the moment! I do still make sure I move everyday, at the moment it’s long walks with my dog Rudy, he’s a 2 year old Yorkshire Terrier.
I can’t travel without…
*My camera, you never know when you are going to come across something inspiring. I own a Cannon SLR and have carried it with me on every trip I have been to since I first purchased it. I’m particularly interested in food photography; I hate the idea of travelling somewhere like Italy and not being able to bring photos of the incredible food markets back home with me!
At the moment I am focussing on…
*Opening another new deli and the release of our first cookbook, The Detox Kitchen Bible in May. The book will consist of over 200 recipes straight out of my kitchen – they will be focused of creating delicious and adventurous flavours from naturally nutritious ingredients.
A healthy lifestyle is important to me because…
*By being healthy I feel happier in my body and I feel more focused mentally.
