I start each morning with…
*Hot water and lemon.
*Or a homemade smoothie. I like to change up the ingredients but one of my favourites includes Sun Warrior Chocolate protein, frozen banana, almond milk, cacao powder, maca powder, chia seeds, cinnamon & cashew butter. Or I’ll make a green smoothie (sunwarrior.com). A good one is Purition Macadamia & Vanilla protein, frozen banana, almond milk, cucumber, avocado, spinach & almond butter (purition.co.uk).
The green products I cannot live without in my make-up bag are…
*RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up (rmsbeauty.com).
*S.W.Basics Cocoa Lip Balm. Both brands contain minimal ingredients and feel so nice on the skin. In fact, they are so pure they would be safe to eat! (swbasicsofbk.com).
My secret green beauty trick is…
*I have a few up my sleeve! I like to make a DIY coffee body scrub at home using all organic ingredients. It contains ground coffee & coconut oil.
*I also swear by using coconut oil as both a face cleanser & moisturiser and rose water as a toner.
My positive mantras are…
*Always changing! But a consistent one is “life isn’t about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself.” I sometimes find it a bit confronting but it’s always a great one for changing your mindset and empowering yourself.
Books on my reading list which inspire me are…
*The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho – I always find it an inspiring read when I’m feeling indecisive. It’s a good reminder to trust your gut and follow your dreams (waterstones.com).
My favourite healthy snacks are…
*If I have time, I love to make a big batch of date balls or granola bars.
*If I’m out and about, I like to grab a green juice. Otherwise, some raw almonds, apple & almond butter, some chocolate goji berries or a Nakd bar (naturalbalancefoods.co.uk).
My weekly exercise routine consists of…
*I like to shake it up but a typical week will include a few spin classes – I love Soul Cycle in the US and Psycle in the UK, some Hatha yoga for relaxation (either a class or on my iPad) and a reformer Pilates or Barre class.
*More recently though, I’ve been boxing training two times a week and I LOVE it! Pete & Jamie at Box Clever Sports near Ladbroke Grove are great! I’m not a massive gym girl, though I have been there and done that in the past. For me, it’s got to be something that I enjoy otherwise I won’t stick to it.
I can’t travel without…
*My RMS Beauty products (rmsbeauty.com).
*Also, a natural body wash and moisturiser. At the moment I’m using Avalon Organics. I suffer from eczema so it’s important I travel with products I know won’t irritate my skin (avalonorganics.com).
At the moment I’m really focussing on…
*My studies! I’m training to become a Naturopathic Nutritionist. I’ve always had an interest in health and wellness so studying was the next logical step for me.
A green lifestyle is important to me because…
*Wow – it’s important to me in so many ways! I think on a personal level, we all have responsibility to take care of ourselves the best we can. In my opinion, living a more “green” lifestyle by reducing chemical consumption through products and diet is key to health. But I also think it’s so much more than personal health. The more I learn, the more I realise what a massive impact these chemicals & improper farming practices are having on the environment.
*I’m so passionate about it and I’m happy that it’s finally becoming an accepted topic of mainstream conversation. I feel like the connotations surrounding being “green” are changing and that can only be a good thing!
