Greenspiration: Gabriela Peacock

Health guru and nutritional expert in-house at Grace Belgravia reveals her tips for a green life.

 I start each morning with…

*A glass of hot water with freshly squeezed lemon. Not only is it delicious and hydrating to wake up to, but lemon has antibacterial, antiviral and immune-boosting properties which helps support a healthy digestive system and the liver detoxification pathway.

The green products I cannot live without in in my make up bag are…

*Dr Hauschka products – the lip balm smells lovely and contains jojoba wax and shea butter which leaves my lips super soft and moisturised. It’s great in both summer and winter. The Rose Day Cream is a rich cream I love to use on my face when my skin feels dry, especially after I have been in the sun (drhauschka.com).

My secret green beauty trick is…

*I mix REN Moroccan Rose Otto body oil with their body cream and slather it on everyday after showering. It leaves my skin really soft and supple and the sheen of the oil helps it glow (renskincare.com).

*After the shower every morning I dry skin brushing to increase the circulation to get your lymphatic system moving, Aromatherapy Associates do a great one (aromatherapyassociates.com).

My positive mantras are…

*Take your time. When work and life seems to be getting on stop of me, I tell myself to slow down, take a deep breath and focus my mind again. The same can be said for eating – you should always try to take your time and chew thoroughly for optimum digestion and absorption of nutrients.

Books on my reading list which inspire me are…

*I love keeping up to date by reading nutrition and health related books. I’m currently reading Genome: The Autobiography of a Species in 23 Chapters by Matt Ridley and Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation by Michael Pollan (waterstones.com)

My favourite healthy snacks are…

*I always have a good quality protein bar or two in my bag to snack on when I’m on the go travelling or during work. My favourites are LoveRaw’s organic Rosehip and Lemon superfood bars which are 100 per cent vegan (eatloveraw.com) and the almond-flavoured Bounce balls (bouncefoods.com).

*It’s important to keep blood sugar levels balanced throughout the day by eating regularly and ensuring I get the right balance of protein, carbohydrate and fat at each meal. Sometimes this can be hard with work or life getting in the way, which is why the bars are so useful. They really help prevent cravings for something sweet.

My weekly exercise routine consists of…

*Dynamic Reformer Pilates twice or three times a week. Ten Pilates is my favourite place to go to a class. It has a great range of classes on offer but Dynamic Pilates is the best for toning up muscles to shape and strengthen them (tenpilates.com).

I can’t travel without…

*Plenty of water. I also take a good quality supplement formulation to minimise the stress caused by travelling. I make sure it contains vitamin C to support my immune system and adrenal glands along with the B vitamins to manage the stress and keep my energy levels up.

*A spritz of Dr Haushka toner spray is so refreshing; I decant it and put it in my hand luggage (drhauschka.com).

At the moment I am focusing on…

*Developing my supplement line as well as seeing patients in my private clinic in Belgravia (gracebelgravia.com, 020 7235 8900) and in Notting Hill at Ten Pilates (020 8969 9677).

A green and healthy lifestyle is important to be because…

*It enables me to be more resilient to the demands of life. Work, travel and children can sometimes take it out of you but by eating well and ensuring time for exercise and relaxation, I have buckets of energy to do it all.
